5 Things to Ask Prospective Masonry Contractors
1. How long has the contractor been installing masonry and pavers?
Generally the more experience that an installer has, the better the end product will be in regards to details and durability.
2. What is the process that the contractor uses to install pavers?
Although anyone can install pavers, installing them so that they last for years is a whole different story. Always think to yourself, "It looks good now, but what will it look like in 5 years?" You want a project that will stand the test of time.
3. What kind of warranty does the contractor offer?
This is a place where you as the potential client and purchaser need to be realistic. If somebody offers you a lifetime warranty on work done then you really need to ask HOW can that be possible? And how good is a warranty if the contractor is no longer in business?
4. What is the material that is to be used?
Here is where the home owner needs to do their due diligence. There are a wide variety of materials out there BUT they are not all created equal. Always ask about density of the material and absorption rates; this will go a long way in determining the quality of the paver or masonry product and ultimately, the quality of the end product.
5. Is the contractor reputable?
This goes without saying. If the potential contractor does not have a favorable track record or credentials, then it would be advisable to turn the other way and not engage.
